How this list was made

Japan's market leans heavily towards Claude Code, so we split our assessment between engineering depth and support for non-engineering staff. Whether a course can be part-funded through government employment-development subsidies, delivery in Japanese or English, handling of personal information under the APPI, and evidence of hands-on exercises all shaped the order.

Checklist: picking a Claude AI trainer in Japan

Anthropic's Tokyo office and Japan's Claude Code boom

Tokyo became home to Anthropic's first office in the Asia-Pacific region in late October 2025, and the opening came with a cooperation memorandum with the Japan AI Safety Institute. Rakuten, Nomura Research Institute and Panasonic were among the enterprise customers Anthropic highlighted that day. A local presence has encouraged larger Japanese companies to standardise on Claude, and training providers have followed with courses for both engineers and business units.

Claude Code training is unusually plentiful here. Cloud integrators, specialist AI firms, industry associations and IT schools all run courses, from short sessions to multi-day customised programmes, and several can be partly funded through government employment-development subsidies. The Act on the Protection of Personal Information sets the data rules, and Japan's AI Promotion Act of 2025 signals a policy stance that favours adoption. Manufacturing, finance and IT services are the most active buyers.

FAQ

Questions

Some Japanese course providers say employers may recover part of the cost through government employment-development subsidies, with the MHLW’s jinzai kaihatsu shien joseikin, or Human Resources Development Support Subsidy, the scheme most often cited. Eligibility depends on the course design, the employer and the application process. Ask the provider for documentation and confirm with your labour office before you commit.
Claude reads and writes Japanese fluently, including keigo for formal business correspondence, and handles long documents well. Results improve when a Project includes your company’s terminology and sample texts. Staff should still review customer-facing and legal content, and training should practise that review on real Japanese documents rather than translated examples.
Japan has a large community of engineers and systems integrators, and Claude Code fits directly into their work on refactoring, testing and documentation. Providers responded quickly with structured courses. Business departments benefit too, so organisations rolling Claude out company-wide often pair a Claude Code track for engineers with Projects and Skills workshops for other staff.
Under the APPI, companies carry duties for every piece of personal information they hold, and sending it to a provider outside Japan brings extra conditions. Before staff use customer or employee information with any AI tool, organisations need an approved plan and internal rules. Training should cover anonymisation and which data stays out of prompts, aligned with guidance from your legal team.
Yes. Foreign-affiliated companies and global teams in Tokyo often prefer English or bilingual delivery, and several international providers, including our team, offer it live online or on-site. Ask each provider about trainer language ability, materials in both languages and whether exercises can mix Japanese and English documents, then request a written proposal.
