How this list was made

We looked for depth beyond foundation level, since the government's AI Skills Hub now covers the basics for free. Funding routes such as apprenticeships, awareness of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and coverage of agent security and MCP integrations all shaped the ranking.

Disclosure: our lead trainer is listed first; every other entry links to its own website.

Checklist: picking a Agentic AI trainer in the UK

From free AI foundations to agent skills in the UK

In January 2026 the UK government expanded its industry-backed AI skills programme, aiming to give 10 million workers foundational AI skills by 2030 through free short courses on an AI Skills Hub. More than 25 partners support it, including Microsoft, Google, IBM and the NHS. Figures cited at launch suggest only about 21% of workers feel confident with AI, so the foundation layer is well served while deeper agent-building skills remain a gap employers must fill.

The UK market for that deeper layer is mature. Large providers run agentic catalogues from foundations to Python builds with LangGraph, specialists teach MCP and developer tooling, and apprenticeship providers offer funded routes into AI and automation roles. Because UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 govern personal data, and the ICO expects organisations to assess high-risk processing, agent courses that cover impact assessments, logging and human oversight are especially useful for regulated sectors.

FAQ

Questions

Some can. Apprenticeship providers offer AI and automation programmes that levy-paying employers may fund through their apprenticeship budgets, and smaller employers may receive government co-investment. Short commercial workshops are not usually eligible. Check the specific standard, duration and funding rules with the provider before committing staff, because funding policy has been changing.
The AI Skills Hub focuses on foundational skills, which is a useful starting point for most staff. Building and governing agents needs more: tool integration, workflow design, testing and oversight. Many employers use the free courses for broad awareness, then commission specialist training for the teams that will design or supervise agents in live processes.
Not always, but often. Where an agent processes personal data in ways likely to pose high risk, such as automated decisions about people or large-scale processing, a DPIA is expected. The Information Commissioner’s Office has issued detailed AI guidance worth reading alongside any agent design. Training should show teams how to describe what an agent does clearly enough for that assessment.
Increasingly, yes. Several UK providers now teach the Model Context Protocol for connecting agents to tools and data, alongside agent security topics. MCP is relevant to Claude and a growing range of other platforms. If your developers will build integrations, ask for hands-on MCP server work rather than a theory overview, and check which tools the exercises connect to.
Fees depend on duration, technical depth, group size, location and funding route, so headline numbers rarely compare like for like. We do not publish prices. Send providers the same brief and ask each to state outcomes, materials, follow-up support and any funding assistance in their proposal, then judge value on those terms.
